Abstract

Abstract in english: | This thesis describes a complete restoration procedure of the book Ioanis Anicij, Thesaurus perpetuus, Indulgentiarum from the year 1662 printed in Venice. Franciscan monastery from Pozega is the owner of this book. Restoration was conducted in HDA (Croatian State Archives) in the SLKR department (Central laboratory for conservation and restoration). First 66 pages of the book had visible water stains, mold, insect and mechanical damages, while the rest of the book had only insects and mechanical damage especially on the page edges because of the long period of handling. All sheets in the book were wrinkled from humidity and yellow from dust. Those damages were removed with calcium hypochlorite and bleached with hydrogen peroxide. In order to rebind the book, sheets had to be dry cleaned from dust with brush and the book had to be unbind (separate covers from textblock). After separating the covers from textblock inner dust was removed from spine. After dust cleaning, a colleague A. Ruţić restored and sized the sheets of the book. When pages were restored and set into signatures, the binding of the book started which is the main focus of this thesis. All stages of binding are recorded as pictures and descripted in details. |
