Abstract

Abstract in english: | This research is directed not only into validity of wide, but also into prevention from inappropriate usage of the inkjet technology in the field of digital proofing. Its aim is to determine whether there are differences between the most quality print and proof, made from the same inkjet printer. For the research needs’ a special *.pdf file for reproduction is developed and later printed on 16 different inkjet printers. Among other elements, the file for reproduction also contains control strip. It is printed from the same software and mostly on the same type of matte paper. Printing on the unique calibrated printer among selected ones is an exception because of special semimatte proofing paper used. Five prints of each printer are measured with densitometer. All shown results from the measurements with densitometer represent averages from the measures made in the five independent measurements. The prints are reviewed within the following parameters: densities, dot gain and relative printing contrast for each process colour; trapping, gray balance, simulated gold, K100 opposite composite black colour and readability of the bar codes. Two questionnaires were realized: for visual assessment of the quality of the prints (20 examined people, 10 of them with and 10 people without any experience in printing industry), and the specifics in printers’ usage (on the printers’ operators in the companies where the prints are made). The results of the measurements are pointing out the fact that the proof, by its appearance and specifics, differs a lot not only from the average, but from the high quality inkjet print as well; according to all the examined people, the proof is something between them. This confirms the above statement. Both groups of examined people were incredibly close, and for certain printers almost even in assessing the proofs according to their quality. So, we could conclude that every inkjet print is not and can not be treated i.e. used as proof in practice. |
