Abstract

Abstract in english: | Portrait photography is a type of photography that implies photographing live objects. There are many options to consider while shooting portraits, either to play with lights and shadows, or to use different framing or different shooting techniques. Therefore, portraiture can provide interesting insights into the characteristics of the models and has the ability of a more intimate familiarization with the ones referred. For that reason, this thesis deals with the exploration of the objects, but in this case there are two different objects that are observed – human and animal. When shooting humans and animals there is a variety of techniques and approaches that are not always the same, therefore, there are described not only general items while shooting people but also while shooting animals. So the author photos will include individual portraits of models and their joint portraits which will provide a synthesis of human and animal portraiture and present their interrelations. In addition, this thesis will on the basis of the author’s photos examine stereotypes of owners and their pets, and illustrate the current state of Zagreb pet owners. In doing so, the emphasis is placed on the ability of photography as a medium to present to the viewer in a unique way the profile of Zagreb pet owners which is formed by using different shooting techniques for the specified object. |
