Abstract

Fotografija je način zabilježavanja događaja, stvari kao i svijeta oko nas. Ne kaže se uzalud da ona vrijedi 1000 riječi. Iako pisana riječ može mnogo toga otkriti o određenom događaju ili vremenskom periodu fotografija uvelike doprinosi vjernom prikazu, razumijevanju i poticanju emocija. Fotografija je idealan medij koji omogućuje proučavanje i istraživanje jukstapozicije nekadašnje snažne industrije grada Rijeke i njezinog današnjeg stanja. Cilj diplomskog rada je upoznati se s prošlošću, prikazati realnost sadašnjosti te istražiti mogućnost napredovanja u budućnosti, kao i proučiti značaj industrijske fotografije u povijesti te njezino značenje u današnjem vremenu. U eksperimentalnom dijelu ovog rada, napravljena je usporedba fotografija iz prošlosti s autorskim fotografijama današnjeg stanja jer upravo tim putem cijela problematika riječke industrijske baštine dobiva novu dimenziju i težinu.

Abstract in english:	Photography is a way of capturing moments, objects and our surroundings. There is, indeed, a legitimate reason why ‘a picture is worth a 1000 words’ is a known and frequently used saying. Even though the written word can be vastly informative and paint a good picture about certain event or period in time, photograph does it more effortlessly and fluently as well as more sentimentally. Photography is an ideal medium to enhance the juxtaposition between once strong industry in the city of Rijeka and its present state. The purpose of this study was to get acquainted with the past, the reality of the present and explore the possibilities that future can hold. Moreover, it is intended to highlight the importance of industrial photography throughout the history and its meaning nowadays. In the experimental part of this thesis a comparison is drawn between photographs from the past and those taken only recently to shed light on the importance of the ongoing issue concerning Rijeka’s industrial heritage.
