Abstract

Abstract in english: | People have faith in photographs, as they evoke whats in front of the camera at the time being. Every photograph is authentic, instant and accurate and can be better understood at first sight then words itself. The discovery of photography, resulting with a wide usage since the year 1830, has given a large number of people the opportunity of enjoying the new technic of producing photos, which have the characteristics of great speed, accuracy of reproduction and the possibility of multiplying. In the begginings photographers had no other choice then to use the black and white technic, although the black and white technic hasn't fallen into oblivion, it is to this day being used and is continuously evolving. In the theoretical part of this thesis the black and white technic will be described along with it's beggining and development among time, as well as the analysis of the specifics of black and white photographs. Also, this thesis consists of a comperison of the works of Croatian photographs, Toše Dabac and Marija Barut, to the present reality as well as my achieved results. One of the most themes that Marija Barut uses in her works are Zagreb, Zagreb's streets and the cultural - historical sights, which happen to be the core of this thesis. On the other hand through the work of Toše Dabac, who is the representative of street art, I'll endeavor to capture the moment and it's sincerity without adjustment. The recreation of light and shade through the help of various filters raises the art of black and white photography to a whole new level. The main goal of this thesis is the promotion of the city of Zagreb. Every tourist resort, including Zagreb, endeavors to attract and achieve as favorable economic effects as possible, therefore making tourist promotional material extremely important in the modernized world. |
