Abstract

Abstract in english: In order to create a quality portrait, most people seek services of a professional photographer. Most imply that the photographer will take a better photo primarily due to the use of sophisticated equipment and tehnical knowledge. A small number of people also believes that the photographer will better asses the situation in which their face and body looks better, and therefore direct them to pose accordingly. In this paper, through an experiment it was explored how and to what extent the portrait that photographer took differs from a self-portrait. We've done it in a way to eliminate the compositional and tehnical aspects of photography. Portraits and self-portraits were made under the same tehnical conditions, with the same photographic equipment. The only difference was in a presence of photographer and his communication with the person portrayed. Upon completion of shooting, each portrayed person chose one of his self-portraits, which were then compared with the portrait chosen by photographer. Thus, the selected images were exhibited side by side and analysed to determine which factors and how affect the creation of the portrait, and the extent to which the vision of the photographer differs from the how the portrayed person sees him/herself.
