Abstract

Abstract in english: | Graduate work was carried out in order to research the possibility of using Raman spectroscopy as a non-destructive analysis of counterfeit banknotes. The main objective of the research is testing samples with Raman spectroscopy and analyzing the results in order to determine whether the Raman spectroscopy is suitable method to compare different colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and carbon), various manufacturers (in this research we used six different manufacturers of offset colors) on different surfaces (paper and glass). Not only in Croatia but also general in the world, this method is largely ignored when it comes to analyzing forgery. Samples printed with offset colors from different manufacturers on the same backing paper were tested by Raman micro-spectroscopy using Argon laser, with the wavelength of 514.5 nm. By simply comparing the results of different background, color and manufacturers we can come to the conclusion that every color, every background and every manufacturer has a unique Raman spectrum. The results show that Raman spectroscopy can be used as a method of analyzing the printed patterns (forgery) such as banknotes and documents in order to prove the originality and origin, and that the Raman spectroscopy technique of analysis is rapid, non-destructive metod which gives strong and indisputable results. |
