Abstract

Tošo Dabac jedan je od najpoznatijih i najutjecajnih hrvatskih fotografa 20. stoljeća. Tema koja se proteže kroz njegove mnogobrojne fotografije je socijalno-dokumentarna, prikazuje socijalnu problematiku vremena u kojem je živio. Još kao fotografski amater sudjelovao je na mnogim izložbama u zemlji i inozemstvu, te je osvajao brojne nagrade i priznanja. Tošo Dabac zaslužan je za osnivanje i predstavljanje Zagrebačke škole umjetničke fotografije. Glavni motiv njegovog stvaralaštva bio je grad Zagreb. Dabac fotografira život ulice; svakodnevne društvene događaje, prosjake, gospodu, portrete, spomenike, ples, cirkus, arhitekturu i krajolike, te se na taj način ističe kao jedan od glavnih nositelja socijalnog smjera u fotografiji. Kroz analizu tehničke, semantičke i sintaktičke karakteristike odabranih Dabčevih fotografija, iz dobivenih zaključaka uspoređuju se prikazi motiva na njegovim fotografijama s prikazom istih tih motiva u današnjem vremenu. Nastoje se utvrditi sličnosti i razlike u samom stvaranju fotografije, te u kojoj se mjeri socijalna tematika koju on uspijeva dočarati u svojim radovima može prepoznati i u sadašnjem vremenu odnosno fotografiji.

Abstract in english: Tošo Dabac is one of the best known and most influential Croatian photographer of the 20th century. The theme that runs through many of his pictures is socio-documentary, represent the social problems of the time in which he lived. As a photographic amateur he participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad, and has won numerous awards and honors. Tošo Dabac was responsible for the establishment and presentation of the Zagreb School of Photography. The main motives of his work was the city of Zagreb. Dabac photographing street life; an everyday social event, beggars, gentlemen, portraits, monuments, dance, circus, architecture and landscapes, and thus stands out as one of the main pillars of social direction in photography. Through the analysis of the technical, semantic and syntactic features selected Dabac´s photos from the conclusions drawn are compared depictions of motifs in his photographs depicting the same motif in these modern times. We try to identify similarities and differences in the creation of images, and the extent to which social theme that he manages to evoke in his works can be identified and in the present tense of photography.
