Abstract

Abstract in english: | “The interaction between human being and nature” can be shortened to “study” of self-portrait photography, with special emphasis on one of the elements of analysis – the relation between figure and background. Self-portrait was always present as a mean of artistic expression. Even though it started as an exercise in technique, in renaissance it served the artists as a way of showing more about their identity. Adding clothes, background and objects to the portrait showed more information about their profession and status. First that happened with painters and later with photographers as well. Today there are practical selfie self-portraits that allow everyone to control their personal presentation and communication of information. The need to create our own depiction dates far back in history. It is typical only for humans. The psychological importance is in giving value to something simply by deciding that it will be captured. In this work three types of self-portraits have been created – ambient, symbolist and selfie self-portraits. Theoretical information about the main components of artwork (subject, form and content) had been gathered. Analysis of original artworks had been performed following the rules of formal analysis. The objective analysis helped to establish understanding of the creation of photography and to obtain a healthy dose of self-criticism. This work has the potential to bring to consciousness the full scale of selfportrait photography, to educate and inspire for further research. The presented artworks have the potential to be a part of a self-portrait series. |
