Abstract

Abstract in english: | Pictograms are often used as the dominant element of signaling for the purpose of directing motion in the business and public areas. The theoretical part of the graduate work analyzes pictograms as signs of visual communication from the aspect of structure, functionality and application, and describes the metodology and methods for testing the system of pictograms on target groups. In this graduate work, special emphasis has been placed on uniformity and consistency as the basis for a system of multiple pictograms. The practical part of the paper proposes the conceptual solutions of the system of unique pictograms intended for signaling in the space of the dorm "Stjepan Radić", and their recognition and functionality is tested on a certain number of respondents in the student population. Respondents rate pictograms by their personal impression. Pictograms that did not meet the expectations or were not rated with high enough points were eliminated and new versions of those pictograms were developed. The choice of new motives for those pictograms was influenced by the suggestions and comments of the respondents. A survey was conducted again after which the new three pictograms satisfied criteria and were integrated into the pictogram system for signaling in the space of the University campus "Stjepan Radić". Afterward, the real-reproduced pictogram images in the real context of the University campus "Stjepan Radić" is analyzed. In conclusion, the obtained results reflect the perception of the target group of users, which makes them particularly useful in the process of graphic design of information tailored to the specifics of the members of this population. |
