Abstract

Abstract in english: Industrial cultivated hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is a plant that can be used to produce large amount of products, both in the textile and food industry as well as in the paper industry. As a raw material for the paper production, hemp have relatively short growing season (120 days), unlike wood whose period of growing up exploitation has in years. Paper printing substrates change their optical, mechanical and surface properties during aging. The effect of aging on the paper characteristics depends on its composition, primarily on the type of cellulose fibers that are the basis of each paper as a printing substrate. The aim of this study is to determine optical, mechanical and surface changes in three types of paper containing hemp fibers after accelerated aging. For this purpose, the analyzes were made on two hand-made paper with a 100% of hemp fibers, (one unbleached and the other bleached) and one industrial paper with a 25% of hemp fibers. All three paper samples were accelerated by standard methods: increased temperature and xenon lamp. Changes in the optical stability of all paper substrates were observed before and after the treatment of accelerated aging in the form of differences in relative reflection values, Lab values and Euclidean color differences. It has also been found that accelerated aging treatments influence on the mechanical and surface properties of paper.
