Abstract

Abstract in english: | The topic of this thesis is based on thermochromic inks and their chemical stability. Thermochromic printing inks are increasingly used for various different applications due to their functional characteristics that give the product an added value and are used in various industries from medical to food and for commercial purposes. Thermochromic inks consist of thermochromic pigments dispersed in binder, and thermochromic effect is achieved by combining two thermochromic inks with different activation temperatures, or by combining thermochromic inks with conventional printing inks. However, the dynamic change of thermochromic inks is affected negatively by external factors, such as UV radiation and some extreme enviorments like acids and alkalis, where color range could be reduced or thermochromic effect could be lost. One of the key factors of thermochromic inks stability is the printing substrate, where some substrates (rough ones) can preserve microcapsules containing pigment better than smooth substrates. The paper is divided in two parts. The first part will examineflexographic thermochromic printing inks, their mixing with conventional printing inks, and the influence of multiple layers of thermochromic inks on thermochromic effect, while the second part of the experimental part covers the chemical stability of thermochromic inks according to ISO standard. The test will use papers that serve as labels, and all samples will be spectrophotometrically measured before and after the test, and given results compared. |
