Abstract

Abstract in english: The topic of this final paper analyzes sports photography on Instagram with a special focus on football. Besides the history and development of photography, the theoretical part of the paper deals with photography techniques and types of sports photography and briefly presents the history and development of modern photojournalism, as well as the role of sports photography published on social networks. In the practical part of the paper, selected photos posted on Instagram profiles of specially selected actors - football club, player, sports media, fan club, sports journalist and spectators are analyzed through a case study of Real Madrid football club. The analysis included the Champions League competitions in 2016, 2017 and 2018, where selected photos from six Instagram profiles were compared in relation to the photography techniques and type of sports photography, as well as the number of likes that those photos achieved among Instagram users. The analysis confirmed the thesis that football club, player and sports media publish professional photos on their Instagram profiles, while amateur photos are mostly present on the profiles of the sports journalist, the fan club and the spectators’ profiles. The results of the analysis also showed that the photos of emotion are the most often posted photos on Instagram, which indicates the existence of basic correlations between the typology of sports photos and visibility on Instagram. A direct link between the sports photography technique and visibility on Instagram has not been established.
