Abstract

Ispitana je sorpcija toluena na klinoptilolitom bogatom tufu modificiranog s kvarternim surfaktantom heksadeciltrimetil amonijevim bromidom (HDTMABr). Na negativno nabijenu površinu klinoptilolita HDTMA+ kationi adsorbiraju se Coulombovim silama. Dok je prvi sloj surfaktanta vezan kationskom izmjenom, drugi sloj je vezan hidrofobnim interakcijama i stabiliziran protuionima (Br- ioni). Promjena zeta potencijala od negativnog na pozitivni mijenja prirodu zeolita koji poprima svojstva anionskog izmjenjivača. Neionski organski kontaminanti kao što su benzen, toluen i fenol iz zagađenih otpadnih voda mogu se učinkovito sorbirati na organo-zeolite zbog njihove veće hidrofobnosti u odnosu na nemodificirane zeolite. U otopini koncentracije 100 mg C6H5CH3/l na uzorke organo-zeolita i s monoslojnom i s dvoslojnom konfiguracijom HDTMA+ iona, sorbirano je od 4,51 do 4,70 mg C6H5CH3/g zeolita. Učinkovitost sorpcije je od 90,26 do 93,98,0%.

Abstract in english: The toluen adsorption behaviour on modified clinoptilolite-rich tuff was investigated. The tuff was modified with the quaternary surfactant hexadecytrimethyl ammonium bromide (HDTMABr). Cations adsorb on negatively charged clinoptilolite surface by Coulumb bonds.While the first surfactant layer is engaged in cation exchange, second layer is engaged in hydrophobic interactions and stabilized by Br- ions. Changing zeta potential from negative to positive changes the nature of zeolite, which becomes an ion-exchanger. Unionic organic pollutant such as benzene, toluene and phenol from wastewaters can effectively sorb on organozeolites because of their more hydrophobic characteristic by comparision with unmodified zeolites. On organozeolite samples with mono-layer and two-layer configuration of HDTMA+ ions was sorbed from the solution containing 100 mg C6H5CH3/l in a range of 4,51 - 4,70 mg C6H5CH3 /g . Sorption efficiency is in a range 90,26-93,98%.
