Abstract

Unatoč rastu elektroničkih medija poput Interneta (World Wide Web), CD-ROM-ova, DVD-a itd., tiskani mediji i grafički proizvodi brojniji su nego ikada dosad. Postoji samo jedan element koji razdvaja digitalni dizajn od tiska, a to je papir, odnosno tiskovna podloga. U svijetu tiskanih medija, izbor tiskovnog materijala i tehnologija izrade uvelike utječu na svaki dizajnerski projekt. U ovom radu želim prikazati kako u grafičkom dizajnu, uz osnovnu ideju, kreativnost može doći do izražaja samim izborom i upotrebom papira i drugih tiskovnih materijala te njihovim kombiniranjem i kako iskoristiti neke od mnogih mogućnosti grafičke tehnologije, posebice grafičke dorade, prije nego proizvod krene u izradu kako bi se postigla vrhunska kvaliteta dizajna. Opisujem ulogu dizajnera i princip nastajanja grafičkog proizvoda od ideje do realizacije kroz način razmišljanja i dolaženja do same ideje. Skrećem pažnju na referentni okvir kojega se treba držati pri dizajniranju kao što su ciljana publika, cijena proizvoda, izbor tiska i materijala, ekologija itd. Uz mnoge grafičke medije, ambalaža je jedan od najzahvalnijih poligona za prikaz kako proizvod od dosadne kutije ili vrećice može postati vrlo atraktivan dizajnerski proizvod. Cilj mi je prikazati kako su grafički dizajn i grafička tehnologija zapravo jedna nerazdvojna cjelina.

Abstract in english: Despite the growth of electronic media like Internet (the World Wide Web), CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc., printed media and graphic product industry is bigger than ever. There’s only one design element that separates digital designs from print: paper (or other print material). In the world of print media, print material choice strongly influences every design project. In this paper I describe how in means of graphic design, beside the main idea, creativity can be expressed with the choice and use of paper and other print materials, with combining them, and how to take advantage some of the possibilities of graphic technology, specially finishing, before the product is sent to manufacture to achieve prime quality design. I describe the role of the designer and the principle of making a graphic product from idea to realization trough the way of thinking and getting the idea itself. I am pointing to frame of reference which has to be taken in consideration like target audience, price of the product, printing technology and material choice, ecology etc. Beside many of graphic media, packaging is one of the most thankful training grounds to present how a product from a boring box or bag can be made into a very attractive design product. My goal is to present how graphic design and graphic technology is really an inseparable unity.
