Abstract
Ratna fotografija prikazuje područja gdje vlada oružani sukob i zabilježava život u okrilju rata. Ona je oduvijek bila kontroverzna, kako zbog svog eksplicitnog sadržaja, tako i zbog potencijalne vojne cenzure slika i manipulacije javnog mišljenja o određenom sukobu. Od kada je fotografija predstavljena javnosti 1839. godine, ona je korištena i u svrhu dokumentacije povijesnih događaja, pa tako i ratnih zbivanja. Isprva, ograničenja su bila tehničke prirode jer su bile potrebne minute da se slika razvije, što je onemogućavalo bilježenje brzih vojnih akcija. Razvojem fotografskih aparata bilo je moguće snimati brzo i biti u centru zbivanja. Počevši od Američko-meksičkog rata, kada su snimljene prve ratne fotografije, pa do aktualnih sukoba 21. stoljeća u Afganistanu i Iraku, fotografija je bila oružje koje su koristili mnogi da bi zabilježili strahote rata. Motivi na ratnim fotografijama nisu samo vojne akcije već i posljedice koje rat ostavlja, najčešće se pokušava dati ljudsko lice ratu. To su uspjeli neki od najvećih ratnih fotografa kao što je Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin i James Nachtway. Ubrzo nakon pojave fotografije razvila se posebna grana novinarstva - fotonovinarstvo. Broj fotoreportera, koji su pratili sukobe po cijelom svijetu, povećavao se iz dana u dan, a tako i broj fotografija. Pojavila se potreba za formiranjem fotografskih agencija, koje bi distribuirale fotografije novinama i časopisima. Kako mnoge scene, koje ratni fotografi zabilježe, imaju eksplicitan sadržaj, kao što su prikazi mrtvih ili ranjenih, tako se isticalo sve važnije pitanje fotografske etike. Ove karakteristike ratne fotografije uzrokovale su njezin utjecaj na formiranje moderne fotografije u tehničkom, ali i moralnom i kreativnom pogledu.

Abstract in english: | War photography captures photographs of armed conflict and life in war-torn areas. It has always been a subject of controversy because the explicit content, but also because potential military censure and for its use in manipulating public opinion about some conflict. Since the photography was represented to the public in 1839., it was used to record historical information, and therefor wars and conflicts. At first, limitations were technical nature, it took a very long time to produce images, and that prevented action photography. Evolution of photography equipment allowed photographers to be in the center of happening. Since Mexican-American war, when first war photographs were taken, till conflicts in 21st century, such as those is Afghanistan and Iraq, photography was weapon that was used by many in order to record war atrocities. Subjects on war photographs are not just military actions, but also their effects on life around, it is always a goal to give a human face to the war. Most famous war photographers succeed in that: Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin and James Nachtway. Soon after photography was invented, a special branch of journalisam was founded-photojurnalisam. Number of photojournalist covering conflicts all over the world was geting bigger and so is the number of their photographs. There was a need for a mediator between photographers and newspapers and magazins. Photo agnecies were formed to do that job. War photography scenes have explicit content, dead and vounded soldiers and civilians, so the question of ethich is really important. All this characteristics of war photography have affected forming modern photography in tehnical, moral and creative way. |
