Abstract

Multimedijske komunikacije baziĉno koriste svjetlovodni medij u širokopojasnom prijenosu digitalnih informacija. Svjetlovodna tehnologija se temelji na prijenosu generiranog svjetlosnog signala laserskom pobudom, odnosno na emitiranju, prijenosu i prijemu svjetla. U zadnjih dvadesetak godina poĉela se široko primjenjivati zbog prednosti u prijenosu informacija temeljem velikih prijenosnih kapaciteta. Informacije se prenose putem optiĉkih vodova koji se moraju nadgledati da bi se na vrijeme uoĉila oštećenja ili neke druge pogreške koje bi mogle dovesti do zastoja u komunikacijskom procesu. U ovom radu je razvijeno i programsko rješenje s grafiĉkim suĉeljem za praćenje opterećenja optiĉkih vodova u realnom vremenu preko interneta. Sustavnim istraţivanjem i razvojem relevantnih parametara (boje, psihološki atributi...) došlo se do optimalnih rješenja u izboru boja koje su nakon istraţivanja odabrane u praktiĉnom radu. Stupnjevi opterećenosti vodova prikazani su simbolima razliĉitih veliĉina i boja. Povećanje opterećenja rezultira promjenom veliĉine simbola te njegove boje od zelene, plave, preko ţute do crvene. Za izradu grafiĉkog suĉelja korišten je alat Adobe Flash, u kojem je riješen prikaz i napisan programski kod. Povezivanje i uzimanje podataka iz on-line baze o opterećenju optiĉkih vodova vrši se pomoću XML-a (EXtensible Markup Language). Znanstveno istraţivaĉki i razvojni rad je raĊen na Grafiĉkom fakultetu na Katedri za Multimedij i informacijske sustave, a eksperimentalna verifikacija je provedena na najvećoj kampus mreţi na Institutu RuĊer Bošković.

Abstract in english: Multimedia communications in broadband transfer of digital information basically use fiber optic media. Fiber optic technology is based on the transfer of light signal generated by laser excitation, and on emission, transfer and absorption of light. In the last twenty years it began widely to apply because of advantages in transfer of information based on large transfer capacity. Information is transmitted through optic fibers that should be monitored, so damages on fibers or other mistakes, that can block communication process, could be spotted on time. In this work a software solution with graphical display is also developed for monitoring fiber optic load in real time on internet. Systematic research and develop of the relevant parameters (colors, psychological attributes…) were used to achieve optimal solutions in selection of colors that were chosen in practical work after the research. The degrees of the load are shown by symbols with different size and color. Increasing load results in resize the symbol and its color changes from green, blue through yellow to red. To create a graphical display, Adobe Flash tool was used where display was solved and code was written. XML (Extensible Markup Language) was used for connecting and collecting data of fiber optic load from on-line data base. Scientific research and development work were done on Faculty of Graphic Arts, in Department of Multimedia and Information systems, while experimental verification was carried out on the largest campus network on the Rudjer Boskovic Institute.
