Abstract

Abstract in english: Radio was the most listened medium of the twentieth century, whose loss of significance was mentioned in the song "Video killed the radio star" by THE BUGGLES in 1979. The loss of the radio influence, almost 40 years after the emergence of this song, has dropped drastically. Radio has been present for 80 years in Croatia, with the first 30 years being the only electronic medium. Although many predicted its end after arrival of television, that did not happen. But the emergence of social networks at the beginning of the new millennium has put the radio into a new challenge. Radio content has to be placed on social networks today to exploit the shorter and weaker concentration of consumers in the digital world of hyper-content production. The primary activity of radio could be fully relocated to social networks in the future, and in that scenario radio as a medium, ie radio ether would only be used for the release of shorter speech formats and music. Digitalisation of all contents does not necessarily mean the disappearance of radio as a media, but the use of social networks as extras for the visual stimulation of consumers, who no longer know how to consume a tune without images. The Internet is, in general, a platform that has simply dropped off all the classic media with its contents and immediately gained the younger generation’s attention. However, no one should be scared of its existence, but try to use it for its own media needs. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the importance of visual communication of radio as a digital medium in the digital age. The ultimate goal is to try to answer the question, what kind of radio will we listen to (or watch) in the near future and what is its future at all?
