Abstract

Kvaliteta uveza knjige ovisna je o čvrstoći knjižnog bloka. U ovom radu predstavit će se najčešće korištene tehnike ručnog uveza knjige. Karakteristike knjižnog bloka su jednake za tvrdi i meki uvez. Cilj planiranog istraživanja je utvrditi da li na kvalitetu uveza utječe način povezivanja knjižnog bloka s koricom. Sistematizacija rezultata čvrstoće knjižnog bloka bit će jednaka za različite vrste uveza i očekuje se veliko rasipanje rezultata. Na temelju rezultata čvrstoće nastojat će se zaključiti koje su optimalne opcije lijepljenja knjižnog bloka za meku odnosno tvrdo uvezanu knjigu. Kvaliteta uveza procjenjivat će se kvantitativnom i vizualnom metodom. Kvantitativna metoda sastojat će se u mjerenju sile kidanja pojedinačnog lista papira iz knjižnog bloka pomoću uređaja Martini Tester Type VA. Vizualnom procjenom kidanja lista papira nastojat će se zaključiti dolazi li češće do adhezijskog loma između sloja ljepila i papira ili do kohezijskog loma u masi sloja ljepila ili u masi papira.

Abstract in english:	The quality of book binding depends upon the strength of the book block. This paper will present the most commonly used techniques of hand binding. Features of the book block are the same for hardbound and softbound. The objective of the planned research is to determine whether the quality of the adhesive binding is affected by the connection method used for merging of the book with the cover. Systematization of results of the adhesive binding strength of book blocks will be the same for different types of bindings and a large disperse in results is expected. Based on the results of the adhesive binding strength, the effort will be concluded which are the optimal binding options for softbound books and for hardbound books. The quality of book binding will be assessed through quantitative and visual methods. Quantitative method will consist of measurement of the force needed to tear off a sheet of paper from the book block using a device Martini Tester, Type VA. Visual assessment of tearing off the paper will seek to conclude whether it comes more often to adhesion failure between the adhesive layer and the paper or to cohesion failure of the adhesive layer mass or in the mass of paper.
