Abstract

Mnogi poslužitelji Internet usluga te brzine nude, no krajnjem korisniku one nisu moguće. Da bismo mogli kreirati i distribuirati multimedijalne sadržaje upravo je potrebno istražiti brzine do krajnjih korisnika, jer ukoliko korisnik ima velikih poteškoća prilikom pregledavanja takvih sadržaja, gubi se kvaliteta usluge a i samim time zainteresiranost za takvim sadržajima. Pristup Internetu je u najvećem broju slučajeva preko telefonske linije i bakrene parice. U novije vrijeme sve je veći broj pristupa Internetu preko mobilne mreže, a nove generacije mobilnih mreža omogućuju sve veće brzine.

Abstract in english: Daily reports indicate an increasing need for multimedia content. Using multimedia in education and business purposes created the need for using multimedia also in private purposes. IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) enables the monitoring transmission of live video, view the contents with the time lags and download recorded content on demand. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) provides a user transmission of voice (call). Through the classical XDSL connection are enabled all three aforementioned services: Internet, IPTV and VoIP. In order to have a high quality reproduction of multimedia content, there is a need for high-speed data transfer. Many Internet service providers offer these speeds, but they are not possible to the end user. To be able to create and distribute multimedia content we need to investigate the speed to the end user, because if the user has many difficulties viewing such content, the service quality is lost, therefore interest in such content. In most cases access to the Internet is through the phone lines and copper wires. Lately, there is an increasing number of Internet access via mobile network and the next generation of mobile networks allows higher speed. A small number of users have service over fiber-optic media, which allows the highest transfer speed. The limiting factor for the end user, in one part is the price of higher speed transmission, while the second part is limited by the length of the copper pair or the coverage of cellular networks.
