Abstract

Abstract in english: | A halftone image is made up of a series of dots rather than a continuous tone. These dots can be different sizes, different colours, and sometimes even different shapes. Larger dots are used to represent darker, more dense areas of the image, while smaller dots are used for lighter areas. During the printing process, we have some changes in the size of the halftone print, in other words, the printed dots appear bigger than the dots in the original digital bitmap. This phenomenon is called dot gain. Dot gain can affect the tone characteristics of a printed image. This is partly because of the spreading and penetrating of the ink on and in the paper, called physical dot gain, and partly because of the diffusion of the light in paper, which is referred to as optical dot gain. One of the most important parameters of the printing quality is defining the increase of TVI, which has to be synchronised with current standards. The goal of this final work is to show and to define models that are used to describe these changes that happen within paper, the Murray-Davies model and the Yule-Nielsen model. |
