Abstract

Abstract in english: The final work will be carried out theoretical research about the techniques of restoration of book materials and environmental suitability of the used materials. The technical design of the archive folder for its long term preservation is also an object of interest. Restoration materials will be systematically carried out by analyzing operating procedures (photographing book materials before restoration, the criterion for choosing the materials and techniques of restoration, photographing book materials after the restoration, the criteria for choosing the shape and materials of the archive folder). Materials and methods that were used in the book binding are fully in line with traditional book binding craft, with old tools and manual production. The theme of the work will be mainly focus on the selection of materials for the restoration of the book block (paper, thread, glue) and covers (cardboard, coating, glue). The properties of the new materials used for the restoration should be as similar to the original book materials, which is, in today's flood of synthetic materials hard to find. The criterion in selection of restoration techniques will be made by analyzing different techniques of binding the book block as well as different kinds of binding the book. Recycling materials through history will also be the subject of study.
