Abstract

Kroz analizu umjetničkih stilova od osamnaestog do početka dvadesetog stoljeća traži se poveznica između simbolizma s kraja devetnaestog stoljeća te dizajna plakata za vrijeme Jugendstila u Njemačkoj, odnosno secesije. Korištene su opsežne literature na teme iz povijesti umjetnosti te povijesti umjetnosti dvadesetog stoljeća koje su posebno detaljne zbog količine stilova. Proučavanjem razvoja društva, kulture te umjetnosti još od kraja osamnaestog stoljeća pronađeni su elementi i autori koji pripadaju nekolicini stilova. Umjetnost je postala dinamična i mijenja se zajedno s ljudima. Društvene i tehnološke revolucije utjecale su na i djelovale zajedno sa umjetnošću i svim njenim granama. Naglasak rada je na grafičkim i slikarskim umjetnostima, iako su i ostale poput kiparstva, arhitekture te izrade nakita, pokućstva i obrade stakla igrale veliku ulogu, pogotovo u secesiji. U proučavanju stilova umjetnika tih razdoblja i analizom njihovih radova pronalaze se poveznice; egzotična mjesta, motivi iz snova, nove palete boja, figure žene, dekoracije s izvorima u prirodnim oblicima itd. Sve su to stvari koje povezuju simbolizam i Jugendstil, a potječu još od bunta romantičara i prerafaelita. Naposljetku, promatraju se svi umjetnički, društveni i tehnološki uvjeti koji su doveli do specifičnog načina na koji se secesija odrazila u Njemačkoj, ne samo kroz plošni i geometrijski stil u grafikama već i namještaju, staklu, dekoracijama arhitekture itd.

Abstract in english:	Through the analysis of art styles from the eighteenth to the beginning of the twentieth century, the bond between symbolism from the end of the nineteenth century and the design of posters during Germany's Jugendstil, or Art Nouveau, is sought. The extensive literature on history of art and art of twentieth century is used, being especially detailed due to the multitude of styles at the time. By studying the growth of society, culture and art since the end of eighteenth century, the elements and authors who belong to more than one style were found. The art became dynamic and it changes alongside people. Social and technological revolutions affected and worked together with art and all it's parts. The stressed part of this work are graphic and painting arts, even though others like sculpture, architecture, crafts of jewelry, furniture and glass also played a major role, especially during Art Noveau. Amidst exploration of styles of artists from those eras, and b analysis of their works, the connections are found; exotic places, dreamy motifs, new color palettes, female figure, decorations sourced from natural forms etc. All of these are what connects symbolism and Jugendstil, with roots in romanticists' and preraphaelites' insurgency. Ultimately, all artistical, social and technological conditions are observed, which led to specific way the Art Nouveau manifested in Germany, not only through flat and geometric style in graphic works but also in furniture, glass, building decorations and so on.
