Abstract

Vizualna komunikacija u suvremenom digitalnom okruženju pretežno se temelji na multimedijskim web tehnologijama. Metodologija izrade web sjedišta koje se može dinamično prilagoditi karakteristikama prikaznih uređaja (engl. display devices) naziva se prilagodljivi (engl. responsive) web dizajn. Ugradnja prilagodljivih slika podrazumijeva izradu više optimiziranih varijanti originalne slike. U ovom doktorskom radu razmatraju se odabrani postupci automatizirane obrade digitalnih fotografija u prilagodljivom web dizajnu, realizirani pomoću ImageMagick command-line alata magick convert i programskog jezika PHP u CLI (engl. Command Line Interface) modu rada. Performanse procesa mjere program GNU time i razvijeni monitor radne memorije, a SSIM metodom utvrđuje se kvaliteta izlaznih fotografija, pomoću ImageMagick command-line alata magick compare. Razvijena eksperimentalna metoda temelji se na računalu Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ i operativnom sustavu Raspbian Buster Lite. Cilj istraživanja je odrediti smjernice za optimizaciju performansi procesa obrade fotografija u prilagodljivom web dizajnu, na temelju izbora najboljeg kompromisnog rješenja postupka iz definiranog seta alternativa. Provedbom eksperimentalne metode snimljeni su relevantni podaci o svakom razmatranom postupku. Primjenom izrađenog laboratorijskog prototipa obrađeni su snimljeni podaci i provedeno je višeatributno odlučivanje (engl. Multiple Attribute Decision Making – MADM), metodom jednostavnog zbrajanja težina (engl. Simple Additive Weighting – SAW). Time je utvrđena konačna ocjena svakog postupka, prema definiranim kriterijima. Razmatranjem rezultata istraživanja utvrđene su smjernice za optimizaciju performansi procesa obrade fotografija u prilagodljivom web dizajnu. Time je uspješno ostvaren cilj istraživanja i svi predviđeni znanstveni doprinosi. Također, potvrđene su sve hipoteze istraživanja. Zaključeno je da se izrađeni laboratorijski prototip, razvijena eksperimentalna metoda i pripadajuća programska podrška mogu uspješno koristiti za evaluaciju postupaka obrade digitalnih fotografija u prilagodljivom web dizajnu.

Abstract in english: Visual communication in modern digital environment is mostly based on multimedia web technologies. Development methodology for websites that can dynamically adjust to the display device characteristics is called responsive web design. Implementation of responsive images requires creation of multiple optimized versions of original image. This dissertation is considering selected automated digital photo processing procedures in responsive web design, that are performed using magick convert ImageMagick command-line tool and PHP programming language. Selected performance parameters are measured using GNU time program and developed RAM memory monitor, while SSIM method is used to determine output image quality, by utilizing the magick compare ImageMagick command-line tool. Developed experimental method is based on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ computer and Raspbian Buster Lite OS. The research aims to determine guidelines for performance optimization of digital photo processing in responsive web design, based on the best compromise procedure solution selection, from defined set of alternatives. By performing the experimental method, relevant data on each considered procedure were recorded. By utilizing the developed laboratory prototype, recorded data were processed and Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) was performed, using the method of Simple Additive Weighting (SAW). That gave the performance score of each considered procedure, according to the defined criteria. Based on the research results, guidelines for digital photo processing optimization in responsive web design have been established. The research goal and all planned scientific contributions were successfully achieved. Also, all research hypotheses were confirmed. It was concluded that the developed laboratory prototype, experimental method and related software can be successfully used for the evaluation of digital photo processing procedures in responsive web design.
