Abstract

Abstract in english: Throughout history, it has been proven, through various studies, that every person experiences the same color differently, just as that same color affects each person differently. The perception of color in humans depends on the human organ of sight, the eye, sex, and the brain itself, which reacts differently to external stimulation. In addition to the natural and external influences on the perception of color, it has been scientifically proven that psychological factors also affect the perception of color. Religious and cultural differences, a person's character and his personal life path also in part affect the different experience of color in a person. In this, a study was conducted on the objective tolerance of transitional purple tonalities in persons of different sexes and age groups in Croatia. Different shades of purple are printed on different types of print media using digital printing. After testing, a gamut was defined in the CIE L * a * b * color system that indicates the area of color that the average standard observer considers purple. The results of this paper can be seen to what extent the average standard observer actually experiences small shifts in tones, especially in the transitional tones of purple, and how much this is influenced by different types of print media.
